President's Message January
2010
Hello Members,
Thank you for being an important part of your profession by joining
The American Dental Hygienists’ Association. I am the
President of your local group, Austin District Dental
Hygienists’ Society, ADDHS. The New Year is upon us and I
wanted to be sure you were all aware of the events we have planned.
Our component meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month at
Mangia’s on Mesa Drive. We begin our meetings at 5:30 with a
happy hour usually sponsored by local dental businesses. Next, we
have a business meeting that moves swiftly. And finally, our CE,
given by speakers with an authority of the topic presented.
- February 10th component meeting will feature
samples and education from Ultradent Reps Meagan Sims and Al
Giesler. “White Done Right by Ultradent: Whitening solutions
to Achieve a Winning Smile.” 1 hr CE.
- February is Children’s Dental Health
Month. To celebrate, ADDHS will be providing sealants for the
children of Austin on the 27th at ACC Eastview Campus.
- Our March 10 component meeting will feature 2 CE
hours free to members. Densply Professional will feature Marie
George, RDH, MS as the speaker educating us on “Ultrasonics:
An Evidence Based Approach to Nonsurgical Periodontal
Therapy.” Guests can enjoy the same CE for only $35.
- March 28 will be an Omega Seminar featuring 6 CE
hours.
- April 9 will offer 5 CE hours, from Colgate and
Sonicare, for only $38. This Friday event will be held a Barton
Creek Country Club. Limited space is available so register as soon
as the offer comes in the mail. As a member benefit, you will have
the opportunity to register prior to non-members.
- April 14th component meeting will feature a CE
by Perio Pal. Owner Kimberly Goodson is a dental hygienist who
developed this periodontal charting software.
- May is our last meeting of the year when we
celebrate the graduates from ACC and the present and future ADDHS
officers.
By my count that’s fifteen CE hours! More
than half of those are discounted or free!
Thank you for your time and support,
President of ADDHS
Kirsten McGee, RDH
